Biodose™ - next generation medication management - a world first for Weedle Pharmacy.

The first product to come from the innovative Protomed design centre is the new Biodose™ medication management system which is the world's first with the ability to handle both liquid and tablet oral medicines. New levels of safety and security are achieved through patented temper-evident sealing techniques and the incorporation of Biocote® anti-microbial technology protecting against MRSA in the nursing home care environment.

This patented innovation, will benefit pharmacists, nursing homes and thousands of patients in Ireland and is known as a ‘Total Medication Management’ System or ‘ToMM’™, for short.

Biodose™ was launched at the Pharmacy Show at the NEC in Birmingham, to wide acclaim from pharmacists. It is the first monitored dosage system (MDS) in the world, allowing oral liquid medicines to be dispensed into a unit-dosed system, alongside tablets and capsules. The incorporation of Biocote® antimicrobial technology into Biodose™ effectively eliminates the transfer of MRSA in care environments, placing pharmacists on the front line of infection control.

The Biodose™ MDS system includes full hardware and ‘do it’ software suite, securely sealing each tray which is individually date stamped and contains patient ID, together with drug and dosage details. The software is very easy to use, allowing Pharmacists to dispense whilst simultaneously printing Patient Information, MAR and Medication Charts and the pod seals.

How does Biodose™ work?

The patented system uses disposable trays which hold 28 pods which are delivered to the pharmacy in place ready for the medication to be dispensed and sealed. The Biodose™ Intelligent Software is simple and intuitive and it enables the pharmacist to produce printed seals, medication administration record (MAR) charts, patient information charts (PIC) and a multitude of other items with ease. The patented seal is unique; printed and sealed in one sheet, each individual pod is labelled with the patient and drug information and the perforations in the seal allows individual doses to be effortlessly pushed up and out of the tray to be taken.
